Just holding Molly's hand relaxed Will enough that he forgot about the waiter and some of the thoughts that had risen quickly and unbidden to his mind in regards to how to repay the man's rudeness. He watched Molly's face as she told him more about herself, tracking the movement of her eyes and how she seemed to be able to break eye contact with him easily and without making it seem like she was disinterested or distrustful. He reminded himself to ask her about that eventually, why she was so studious about not keeping them connected for too long at a time.

He wasn't very surprised to hear her age, but he hoped once she knew his she wouldn't change her mind about seeing him. There were certainly couples with more years between them than nine, but Will didn't know for certain if Molly would be okay with their age difference or not. He didn't have the chance to ask her, however, because the next thing she told him shook him a little, and he found he was holding her hand more tightly than he had been before.

"What constitutes as an infraction?" he asked her, his eyes sharp and his mind focused. He believed her that she thought she was safe here, and he knew she could take care of herself, but there was a part of him that rose up in defense at even just the idea of someone attempting to harm her.
